Chapter 2 Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, ...

I am learning that blogs can be used in a variety of ways in a school setting. I will have to start brainstorming how I can use it in the library. I am finding there are blogs for all curricular areas. The book mentions some great examples such as:
AP calculus http://apcalc07.blogspot.com/
Writing http://itc.blogs.com/thewriteweblog/
Biology http://missbakersbiologyclass.com/blog/

The book also gives a long list of classroom uses of blogs.
Examples:
reflective, journal-type blog
class blogs to post information, prompts for writing, provide online readings, create an online book club, showcase student work, link to another class somewhere else in the world.

There are many more examples. I will need to use this list to generate how I will use blogs next year at FMS.

  2. I think there are so many good reasons to blog and you just included a lot of them. Isn't it helpful to look at sample blogs?

  3. I also can't wait for fall and the opportunity to put some of these ideas to use. I am SOO glad you told me about this class. I think between all of us Fairfield people, we can get a lot of new and exciting projects started in our district at all levels. Are you going to be on the technology team for PD this coming year? (Did Mr. Dailey mention this to you??)
